Episode 1

Manh Le Quan is dressed in men's clothing and competing in a tug-a-war contest against a big Mongolian man. Her brother, Manh Tu Nho, is rooting for her in the crowd. He spots his father, Manh Sy Nguyen, walking home and informs Manh Le Quan to hurry. Manh Tu Nho catches up to his father and tries to stall him by asking him to go drink tea with him. Manh Sy Nguyen objects to the suggestion because it is a hot day. The two walk home. Meanwhile, Manh Le Quan finally beats the Mongolian and rushes home. Back at the house, Manh Sy Nguyen asks Manh Tu Nho the whereabouts of Le Quan. After some hesitation, Manh Sy Nguyen suspects that his daughter has gone out again and decides to check up on her. In Le Quan's room, Le Quans two maids, To Anh Tuyet and Dinh Lan, are busy completing Le Quans embroidery and painting. Le Quan arrives home and crawls through a whole in the wall to get inside. She rushes to her room where her maids dress her into womens clothing. Luckily Le Quan beats her father to her room and doesnt get in trouble.

            Le Quan is preparing for the annual scholar competition between her brothers school and another one. She carries water in two buckets to and fro and at the same time To Anh Tuyet and Dinh Lan test her on poetry and verses. She accidentally bumps into her mother spilling water all over the place. Her mother sends her to her room. Back in her room, To Anh Tuyet continues Le Quan's embroidery of a pair of swans. Le Quan stops Anh Tuyet because the embroidery is too beautiful. She knows that her father will suspect that she didnt embroider it because it is perfect. Le Quan tells Anh Tuyet to make it uglier. Seeing that it is almost time for the competition, Le Quan dresses in her mans costume. She is about to leave when her father steps in. He asks her what she is doing and Le Quan makes up a stupid excuse that she is performing in a play. Manh Sy Nguyen tells his daughter to go with him in the mountains to pick medicine. Le Quan decides to trick her father by offering to play chess with him up in the mountains. Meanwhile back at the competition, Manh Tu Nho is getting very nervous as too of his fellow classmates. Tu Nho wanted Le Quan to take his place in the competition but she hasn't arrived yet.

            In the mountains, Le Quan beats her father numerous of times in chess. She decides to let him ponder it out on strategies on how to beat her. She tells him that she will go pick medicine for him. Le Quan runs to the competition but it will take her forever to get there. She steals a horse from a young man who had stopped to rescue an old woman from committing suicide. She tells him that she will return it later. At the competition, Tu Nho had to take Le Quans place because she still hasn't arrived. His team is losing badly. Luckily Le Quan shows up but the judge doesnt allow Le Quan to take Tu Nho's place. She then hits Tu Nho so he faints. Since he is out cold she is allowed to take his place. Le Quan makes a comeback for the team and wins. The teacher from the other school disagrees with the decision and so Le Quan challenges him. She asks him a question and he could not answer it. She then proves herself to everyone by beating the teacher.

            Suddenly, three men walk into the temple. Two are Mongolian and the other is a foreigner. They introduce themselves. The tall Mongolian is named Thiet Moc Nhi and his bodyguard is name A Tang Ca. The other foreigner is named Mac Ca Bac La (Marco Polo). Mac Ca Bac La proposes a question for all the students including Le Quan. He says that if anyone can answer the riddle, he will give them 17 gold coins. The riddle is that you have to divide the coins up for three people. The first person gets 1/2, the second gets 1/3, and the last gets 1/9 and the coins must stay intact. All the students didnt know the answer. Le Quan grins. She asks Mac Ca Bac La for another gold coin. All together there are 18 coins. She gives the first person 9 coins, the second person 6 coins, and the third person 2 coins. The coin leftover she returns to Mac Ca Bac La. Everyone claps. Le Quan and Tu Nho take the 17 gold coins and celebrate. They go to eat. On the way home, Le Quan remembers that she had forgotten her father in the mountains. When she arrives home, her father scolds her for running off. He sends her to her room. Le Quan protests and so Manh Sy Nguyen proposes a test. He pours a basket of sesame and a basket of beans into one basket. If Le Quan can separate the two, she is allowed to leave her room.

            Back in Le Quans room, Le Quan and her two maids try to accomplish the task. Dinh Lan starts to complain to Le Quan that she always gets them into trouble. Le Quan promises to give Dinh Lan a few gold coins as a wedding present. Jus then, a sweet sound of a flute is heard outside. Le Quan falls in love with the music and listens tentatively. She states that the flute player must be a very educated and a gentleman. Le Quan gets an idea on how to complete the task.

Episode 2

            Manh Le Quan is playing outside with Anh Tuyet and Dinh Lan. Manh Sy Nguyen asks why she is out of her room. Le Quan shows him the two separated baskets. She tells him that she wants to go outside. He scolds her and says that he only allowed her to leave her room. She continues to play. Later that day, Le Quan tries to appease her father by bringing him tea and saying that she is very sorry. He doesnt buy it. Le Quan gets mad and says that she will burn the chess tactic book she just bought. Manh Sy Nguyen loves chess so much he asks her to show him some moves. After many games, Manh Sy Nguyen gives up. Le Quan shows him the trick and he is very happy. She asks him for a favor. He agrees to let her go to the festival the next day as long as she stayed out of trouble and must be escorted by her brother. Le Quan swears that if she doesnt listen, she will be forced to be a man forever. Manh Sy Nguyen stops her swear.

            At the festival, Manh Le Quan is dressed as a man. Manh Tu Nho introduces her to his friends as his cousin, Nghe Tu Doan. They spot a girl in the crowd. The guys explain that she is the sister of the town bully, Luu Kue Bich. Her name is Luu Yen Ngoc. Nghe Tu Doan gets mad and scolds them for seeing woman as objects and leaves. She accidentally bumps into the man she stole a horse from. He says sorry and leaves. He goes to watch a performance by a pair of brother and sister. Luu Kue Bich shows up and taunts the performers. The man tells Luu Kue Bich to stop and they start fighting. The man wins easily. Luu Kue Bich asks for the mans name. The man remembers that his father didnt want him to start trouble so gave a fake name, Hoang Thach Cuong. Luu Kue Bich leaves and vows revenge. Luu Yen Ngoc witnesses everything with her maid and also leaves. She is impressed with the man's bravery.

            Nghe Tu Doan roams around town. She stops to buy some masks and spots Thiet Moc Nhi, Mac Ca Bac La, and A Tang Ca. She wants revenge for their ignorance at the competition. While the three walk under a balcony of a restaurant, she drops a bag of flour over. It hits A Tang Ca and he gets covered in white flour. Thiet Moc Nhi tells him not to start trouble since they didnt see who it was. They go buy new clothes for A Tang Ca. Nghe Tu Doan then puts on her mask and pours beans all over the street hoping for the three to slip and fall. Instead, a mouse crawls on her feet and she jumps into the street. She slides down the street where she bumps into Thiet Moc Nhi. She accidentally grabs on to his jade piece and runs. A Tang Ca runs after her calling her a thief. Nghe Tu Doan realizes that she accidentally stole the jade piece but gets angry for being called a thief. She runs away. Later she bumps into her brother and tells him to stop the Mongolian. Tu Nho stands in the middle of the street and blocks A Tang Ca so his sister could get away. Thang Ca punches him. Nghe Tu Doan gets away and takes off her mask. When she turns around, she again bumps into the Hoang Thach Cuong. The masks and jade piece fall to the ground. Hoang Thach Cuong apologizes and gives her back the jade piece. Tu Doan gives him the masks and leaves. A Thang Ca sees Hoang That Cuong with the jade piece and mistakes him for the thief. They start fighting but is stopped by Thiet Moc Nhi who apologizes for his bodyguards rash actions. Hoang Thach Cuong realizes that what happens and promises to find the thief.

            Back at home, Manh Tu Nho has a black eye. His father is very angry at Le Quan. When le Quan arrives home she is yelled at and sent to her room. Le Quan shows the jade piece to Anh Tuyet and Dinh Lan and listens to the flute music from her window. The flute player is actually Hoang That Cuong, but Le Quan doesnt know that yet. The next day, Le Quan overhears her father talk about his plant medicine. She solves his problem by telling him that plants grown in a different environment changes. Manh Sy Nguyen decides to go into the mountains the next day to find the plant. The next day, Manh Sy Nguyen leaves for the mountains while his wife goes to the temple. Anh Tuyet is embroidering and Dinh Lan is writing characters for Le Quan. Le Quan dresses as a man and promises to bring home some cakes for Dinh Lan. When Le Quan returns home, she sees Thiet Moc Nhi and A Tang Ca at her doorstep. They want to see Manh Sy Nguyen so he can cure Thiet Moc Nhi's father of asthma. Dinh Lan tells them that her owner isn't here. Le Quan decides to play a trick on the two. She introduces herself as Nghe Tu Doan, nephew to Manh Sy Nguyen. She tells them to wait while she calls for her uncle. After hours of waiting, Le Quan realizes that the two are still standing outside. She tells them that her uncle has retired to his room and they should come back tomorrow. She then tells them to meet her tomorrow because her uncle will be picking medicine.

            The next day, Nghe Tu Doan takes Thiet Moc Nhi, Ma Ca Bac La, and A Tang Ca into the mountains. While they are walking over a wooden path, she knocks it over. The three fall into a pit of mud. Tu Doan claps and laughs. A Tang Ca kicks the post holding the steps up and Tu Doan falls. Thiet Moc Nhi catches her before she touches the ground. Tu Doan screams and Thiet Moc Nhi lets her go. She falls into the mud and they laugh. They start a mud fight.

Episode 3

Back at Thiet Moc Nhi's place, he talks to Mac Ca Bac La about why he needed Manh Sy Nguyens help. Thiet Moc Nhi explains that Manh Sy Nguyen was a famous doctor when the Chinese were still in power. After the Mongols took over, Doctor Manh retired from politics. Doctor Manh is also famous for his cure of asthma necessary to cure Thiet Moc Nhi's father. Thiet Moc Nhi had promised to take Nghe Tu Doan to eat and say his apologies. Nghe Tu Doan has the entire top floor reserved and orders a lot of expensive food. Mac Ca Bac La, A Tang Ca, and Thiet Moc Nhi arrive and join the dinner. Meanwhile downstairs, Luu Kue Bich shows up with two servants and two girls. He wants to dine on the top floor but the owner says that it already has been reserved. Luu Kue Bich gets mad and foes upstairs to see who it was. He tells the four to leave because his father works for Cuu Duong Gia. A Tang Ca beats up the to servants while Tu Doan fights Luu Kue Bich. She wins easily but Luu Kue Bich takes out a knife. Thiet Moc Nhi stops Luu Kue Bich and grabs Tu Doan's waist. Luu Kue Bich and his servants flee. Tu Doan gets embarrassed. Latter that night she tells Thiet Moc Nhi that her uncle left for the mountains and it won't be days until he returns.

            At Manh Le Quan's house, she retells the story at the restaurant to Anh Tuyet and Dinh Lan. She also compliments Thiet Moc Nhi. Dinh Lan makes fun of her saying that she is now in love with two men, the flute player and Thiet Moc Nhi. Le Quan then hears the flute player and listens in her room.

            At Thiet Moc Nhi's place, Mac Ca Bac La and Thiet Moc Nhi discuss about Nghe Tu Doan. Thiet Moc Nhi asks Mac Ca Bac La if Tu Doan acted like a girl. Mac Ca Bac La says that he thought so too but since women arent allowed to converse with men like that, Tu Doan must be a man. They then plan to attend the Moon Festival the next day.

            Manh Le Quan's mother decides to stay the night at a temple with Manh Le Quan and pray. Le Quan slying gets out of it by saying she needs to paint, write, embroider, and practice sword fighting in the temple. Le Quan's mother sends her home since she didnt want her daughter to destroy the peacefulness of the temple. Dinh Lan and Le Quan disguise themselves as men and attend the Moon Festival. They watch a competition and the prize is a beautiful pouch. Tu Doan was about to answer the question when she sees Thiet Moc Nhi. Thiet Moc Nhi answers the question correctly and wins the pouch. Tu Doan introduces Dinh Lan to Thiet Moc Nhi, Mac Ca Bac La, and A Tang Ca as her servant named, Tieu Dinh. Thiet Moc Nhi gives the pouch to Tieu Dinh and everyone watches a wrestling match. A Tang Ca decides to compete in the wrestling match and everyone watches. Hoang Thach Cuong is also watching the competition when he spots Tu Doan. He chases after Tu Doan since he thought she was a thief. Thiet Moc Nhi and Tieu Dinh split up to find Tu Doan. Thiet Moc Nhi bumps into Hoang That Cuong and the two set out to find the thief and Tu Doan. The two are stopped by Luu Kue Bich and a bunch of his servants. They start fighting. Tu Doan helps them and dresses Luu Kue Bich as an ornament. The three laugh and go back to Thiet Moc Nhis place. Tieu Dinh comes home and reports to Anh Tuyet and Tu Nho that Le Quan disappeared. They go search for her.

Episode 4

            Thiet Moc Nhi removes his overcoat and covers Mac Ca Bac La. Hoang That Cuong sees a flute on Thiet Moc Nhis belt. Hoang That Cuong starts to play the flute. Tu Doan wakes up to the sound of the flute. She starts to walk outside. Hoang That Cuong finishes playing and Thiet Moc Nhi starts to play. Tu Doan sees that the flute player is Thiet Moc Nhi and falls in love. When she comes home she tells Anh Tuyet and Dinh Lan that she knows who the flute player is already. Le Quan then plays her Chinese harp to follow the flute music.

            The next day Hoang That Cuong, Thiet Moc Nhi, Nghe Tu Doan, and A Tang Ca go sightseeing. Meanwhile, Luu Khue Bich asks his mother for some money but his father stops him. He is yelled at for being lazy and good for nothing. He decides to go find some girls to pick on. Since Le Quan is out with Thiet Moc Nhi, Anh Tuyet and Dinh Lan have to go to the temple in her place. Anh Tuyet pray for the Manh family to be healthy and blessed while Dinh Lan prays for a husband for herself. Luu Kue Bich is also there but he is there to pick on girls. He bumps into Anh Tuyet and admires her beauty. He follows her around the temple. After Anh Tuyet and Dinh Lan leave, Luu Kue Bich pays the man at the temple for Anh Tuyet's name. The man said that the girls name was Le Quan.

Hoang Thach Cuong plays chess against Thiet Moc Nhi and is on the verge of losing. Tu Doan takes over and forces the game to be a stalemate. Thiet Moc Nhi and Tu Doan go on a boat on the lake while Hoang Thach Cuong and A Tang Ca go sightseeing on foot. Thiet Moc Nhi asks Tu Doan about politics. Tu Doan tells Thiet Moc Nhi that it doesnt matter who rules as long as the ruler is benevolent. She also suggested that the Mongols should reopen the civil examinations to recruit Chinese people into politics. Thiet Moc Nhi also asks her why swans always come in pairs and why woman prefer swans. Tu Doan answers the question but since she is a man, the question should not matter to her. Thiet Moc Nhi suspects that she is a woman. They decide to go eat. The four walk pass a play. Thiet Moc Nhi suggests that Tu Doan would make a beautiful performer and if men say Tu Doan, they will fall deeply in love. Hoang That Cuong tells Thiet Moc Nhi that Tu Doan is a man and should not be stated to do so. Thiet Moc Nhi apologizes and invites them to eat. Hoang Thach Cuong was about to go too when he remembered that he had to meet his father at the inn. Tu Doan, A Tang Ca, Thiet Moc Nhi, and Ma Ca Bac La go to the restaurant.

            Manh Sy Nguyen had just returned from the mountains when he met up with his long time friend, Hoang Phu Kinh. They decide to go drink tea and talk about old times. Hoang Phu wishes to have his son, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa marry Le Quan. The two agree and start to drink. Tu Doan, Mac Ca Bac La, Thiet Moc Nhi, and A Tang Ca enter the same restaurant. Tu Doan spots her father and runs home. Manh Sy Nguyen also sees his daughter and goes home. He scolds her for being around foreigners and she gets into big trouble. Manh Sy Nguyen then tells his wife that he has made an engagement with the Hoang Phu family. Le Quan overhears the conversation and gets mad. She disapproves of arrange marriages.

Episode 5

Le Quan still remembers Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa but from many years back. He had slipped down a mountain and she helped him. Instead he pulled her down with him breaking her jade bracelet. In Le Quans eyes, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa is a fat and stupid boy.

            Back at the inn, Hoang Thach Cuong reveals himself as Hoang Phu Thuy Hoa. He talks about the marriage with his father but is afraid that the Manh family wont accept him. He still remembers Le Quan but as a caring and beautiful girl. He decides to take care of her for the rest of his life. The two will visit the Manh family the next day.

            The next day, Le Quan decides to stay in her room. She doesn't want to see Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa but instead performs the meeting between her father and Hoang Phu Kinh about the marriage. The Hoang Phu family shows up and is greeted kindly by the Manh family. Thieu Hoa humbles himself and says that he only knows kungfu but as a kind heart. Le Quans mother reports to Le Quan about Thieu Hoa but Le Quan still disapproves of the marriage. Manh Sy Nguyen gets mad and restrains her inside her room.

            Thiet Moc Nhi comes to the Manh resident asking Manh Sy Nguyen to help his ailing fahther. Manh Sy Nguyen turns him down because he is Mongolian. Le Quan decide to help Thiet Moc Nhi. She dresses as Nghe Tu Doan and tries to crawl throught the wall, but her father stops her. He orders her back into the room and sends his servant to fix the wall. Thieu Hoa and his father have come to stay permanently at the Manh resident until the marriage. Thieu Hoa volunteers to fix the wall.

            Le Quan paints a self portrait but Dinh Lan accidentally bumps into her arms causing her face to have a mole on it. Le Quan tells Dinh Lan to give a letter to Thiet Moc Nhi. Anh Tuyet brings some dessert in for Le Quan. When Le Quan realized that they were from Thieu Hoa she spits them out. Anh Tuyet tells her that Thieu Hoa is fixing the wall angering Le Quan. She goes outside and stands on a ladder. All she can see is the back of Thieu Hoa. She uses a slingshot to hit him causing him to fall into a bucket of paste. That night, Thieu Hoa took his flute out to play but his father told him not to bother the people. Meanwhile, Le Quan is listening for the flute music. She starts to play her song. Thieu Hoa overhears it but thinks it is a dream.

            Thiet Moc Nhi decides to give Manh Sy Nguyen all the medicines that he had collected on his journey in exchange for Manhs formula. A letter arrives from Nghe Tu Doan stating how to win Manh Sy Nguyens favor. Manh Sy Nguyen is playing chess with Hoang Phu Kinh when Thiet Moc Nhi arrives. Thiet Moc Nhi shows Doctor Manh some chess strategies and wins the formula. Thiet Moc Nhi asks him the whereabouts of Nghe Tu Doan and Doctor Manh tells him, he had gone home. Manh Sy Nguyen then scolds Le Quan for cooperating with a Mongolian. Some people arrive and report that Luu Khue Bich wishes to marry Le Quan. Manh Sy Nguyen rejects them. When the Luu family heard what happen, they decide to take political actions because Official Luu wanted to preserve his name. He invites Manh Sy Nguyen over for dinner.

Episode 6

            Thieu Hoa and Tu Nho go shopping for marriage supplies. They meet Thiet Moc Nhi and he learns of the marriage. However, Thiet Moc Nhi doesnt know who the future wife is and he tells Thieu Hoa that fourth brother had gone home.

            Manh Sy Nguyen and Hoang Phu Kinh go to the Luu resident. After some hasty talk, the Hoang Phu family is forced into a competition for the hand of Le Quan. That night, Le Quan has a terrible nightmare about being torn in two by Thieu Hoa and Luu Khue Bich. She decides to take her future into her own hands. In the morning, Le Quan and her mother go to pray for blessing at a temple. Le Quan sneaks away and sends Dinh Lan to deliver a message to Thiet Moc Nhi. Le Quan dresses as a monk to sneak away.

            Meanwhile, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa tells Thiet Moc Nhi and Mac Ca Bac La about his interrupted marriage and also reveals that his name is not Hoang That Cuong. A letter arrives from Nghe Tu Doan for Thiet Moc Nhi telling him that fourth brother has an important thing to tell him. Before Thiet Moc Nhi can leave, another messenger arrives giving him some news. Thiet Moc Nhi tells Thieu Hoa to go see fourth brother in his place because he has to return home immediately.

            At the back of the temple, Le Quan is dressed as a monk. She paces back and forth thinking on how to tell Thiet Moc Nhi that she is a girl and how she feels about him. Thieu Hoa shows up and asks why fourth brother is a monk. Le Quan gets mad and learns Thiet Moc Nhi already left. She stomps away leaving Thieu Hoa confused and he thinks that he is to blame for it.

            Luu Khue Bich learns the true identity of Thieu Hoa as Hoang Thach Cuong and so he decides to rig the competition. Theiu Hoa tells his father not to worry because Luu Khue Bich cant beat him. Meanwhile, Le Quan is packing to run away. Her father stops by to play chess with her. Le Quan tries one more time to convince her father but to no avail. She then checkmates him.

            The competition begins the next day with three events. The first two events are in the field of archery. The first test is to shoot arrows to hit at a flag in a tree. Luu Khue Bich and Thieu Hoa complete it. The next one involves shooting arrows through tossed coins. Manh Sy Nguyen throws three coins in the air, one at a time. Luu Khue Bich nails all three with three arrows. Thieu Hoa asks Official Luu to throw all three coins in the air at the same time and Thieu Hoa completes the test. Everyone announces that Thieu Hoa has won but Official Luu objects. The last event is to retrieve a coat at the edge of town. On the way, Thieu Hoa is ambushed by Luu's men.

Episode 7

            Thieu Hoa defeats all of Luu's men and still manages to win the race. He is pronounced winner. The Manh family go and celebrate. Anh Tuyet report to Le Quan that Thieu Hoa had won. Le Quan and Dinh Lan decide to leave and stay at a temple. Anh Tuyet tells the Manh family that Le Quan ran away. The Manh family go search for her but they still couldnt find her. They tell the Hoang Phu family that Le Quan is sick and must stay in her room so the marriage is postponed. Manh Sy Nguyen and Tu Nho take Thieu Hoa and his father to find a house. Manh Sy Nguyen rejects every house to stall. Thieu Hoa stop to buy a jade bracelet for Le Quan in remembrance of their first encounter. Luu Yen Ngoc also wants the same bracelet and so Thieu Hoa gives it to her. Later the owner buys some more and sells the exact one to Thieu Hoa.

            Two of Luus men stop Thieu Hoa and invite him to meet Luu Khue Bich. Luu Khue Bich humbles himself to Thieu Hoa and wants to be friends. He gets drunk and Thieu Hoa takes him home. He is invited in to teach kungfu to Khue Bich. He is given some drugged tea. Thieu Hoa stands up to show some kungfu when he starts to sway.

Episode 8

            Thieu Hoa falls and gets beaten up. He faints and his carried in a bag to be dumped into a river. Luu Yen Ngoc suspects that something is wrong and stops the men. She takes Thieu Hoa back to her room. Luu Khue Bich tries to search her room so Luu Yen Ngoc takes off her clothes. She puts Thieu Hoa under the bed covers and pretends to be sleeping. Khue Bich had to give up his search because she threatened to tell her father. Thieu Hoa thanks her for saving his life. She then tells her father about her brothers conduct. Official Luu tells her not to worry and handles the situation. The next day he has Hoang Phu Kinh arrested for conspiracy against the Mongolian government. Luu Yen Ngoc leads Thieu Hoa safely out of her house. When Thieu Hoa returns to the Manhs house, Anh Tuyet stops him to warn him about the arrest. She decides to take him to see Le Quan. However, Le Quan got tired of staying at the temple and left.

            Meanwhile at the court, the judge tries to convict Hoang Phu Kinh. The court provided fake evidences to convict him. Luu Yen Ngoc brings Hoang Phu Kinh some food to say sorry for her fathers actions. He blames her but when he learns that she had saved Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa, he becomes thankful. Suddenly, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa breaks in to try to save his father. Unfortunately, it was a trap. Luu Khue Bich holds Hoang Phu Kinh hostage. Luu Yen Ngoc lets Thieu Hoa hold her hostage so he could get away.

Episode 9

            Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa plans to go get help from his fathers old friends. He bids farewell to Anh Tuyet and leaves. Meanwhile, Le Quan and Dinh Lan are busy site seeing and buying souvenirs. A man bumps into Le Quan and she drops Thiet Moc Nhi's jade. She remembers him and decides to go see him at Dai Do, the capitol.

            Thiet Moc Nhi arrives home to the palace. His father, Hoang Thai Tu (crowned prince) is in critical condition. Thiet Moc Nhi orders the servants to prepare the medicine that he had collected. He also finds out that his grandfather, the emperor Kubilai Khan, had rid the palace of Chinese doctors. Kubilai Khan enters and yells at Thiet Moc Nhi. The two get into an argument causing Hoang Thai Tu's asthma to act up. He dies. Kubilai Khan blames the medicine for his sons death. In grief, Thiet Moc Nhi burns all the medicine formulas he had collected on his journey. Ma Ca Bac La bids Thiet Moc Nhi farewell. A Mongolian girl brings some tea for Thiet Moc Nhi. It is his childhood friend, Khoac Chanh. She is also royalty. The two talk but Thiet Moc Nhi is still too mad at his grandfather to continue the conversation.

            Back in the royal court, Kubilai Khan gets into an argument with his son, Cuu Duong Gia, about financial spending. He leaves in anger. Khoac Chanh decide to console Kubilai Khan. She brings him some food, tea, and teaches him how to play chess. She also invites Thiet Moc Nhi to join.

Episode 10

            Thiet Moc Nhi is rather surprised that his grandfather would be involved in Chinese customs. However, he makes up with his grandfather. Later he thanks Khoac Chanh for her help and gives her the flute he had bought while traveling as a gift. Meanwhile, Le Quan and Dinh Lan have run out of money because Dinh Lan eats too much and wants to many things. They end up walking to their destination.

            Le Quan and Dinh Lan stop at a resting place in the mountains. Four men tend the place. They try to drug Le Quan so they could steal money, but Le Quan found out. She chases them down and finds out they are a bunch of worthless bandits. Out of nowhere, the leader of the bandits jumps out. The leader is a woman who acts quite manly. Le Quan kids around with her saying she should come home to be her wife. The queen bandit overpowers Le Quan and Dinh Lan. The four bandits take them back to their camp.

            They demand money but since Le Quan had no money she could not give them any. When they decided to search their bodies, Le Quan lies about her identity. Le Quan introduces herself as Nghe Tu Doan, the only son of the richest man in a part of China. Nghe Tu Doan then tells the bandits that if they treat her and Tieu Dinh well, she will tell her father to send money. The queen bandit decides to take the bait. Nghe Tu Doan and Tieu Dinh are taken to a room. However, they order the bandits to clean it up or they will not write the letter. The queen bandit gets mad and charges into the room. She finds Tu Doan painting a picture. Tu Doan holds the picture up and it is a picture of the queen bandit. Tu Doan then lies that the queen bandit looks like an old girlfriend who had passed away. Tu Doan also hints that he is in love. The queen bandit is flattered and decides to make dinner for them. Tu Doan gives the painting to the queen bandit.

            At dinner, Tieu Dinh complains about the quality of the food so Tu Doan and Tieu Dinh go to their room to eat. Tu Doan then tells Tieu Dinh that they should stay here until they got bored. In the morning, Tieu Dinh overhears two of the bandits talking about stealing food from the others. Nghe Tu Doan and Tieu Dinh tell the queen bandit about the incident.

Episode 11

            The queen bandit yells at the bandits only to find that they were not stealing. Since Tu Doan and Tieu Dinh ate good food, the four bandits had to take turns eating spoiled rice. There was no money left in the camp. Meanwhile, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa arrives at his fathers friends place. However, he finds they are not as powerful as he thought and gives up asking them for help.

            Back at the palace, Kubilai Khan and Cuu Duong Gia get into another fight. Thiet Moc Nhi consoles his grandfather while Cuu Duong Gia storm off. Cuu Duong Gia arrives home to find his wife crying over their daughters clothes. His wife blames him for causing their daughters death several years ago.

            Nghe Tu Doan comes up with a plan to make money. She tells the bandit to find wanted posters of criminals. When the see one of them, they should drug the guy and rob him. If they cannot win then they should run into the forest, where the queen bandit lures the victim into a pit. After hours of waiting, a man walks up to the resting place. He is identified as a criminal but the man is Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa. Unsuccessfully the bandits try to drug him in wine. Since Thieu Hoa does not drink wine he does not take the bait. The bandits lure him into the forest where he slips into the pit. Nghe Tu Doan hears his cry and finds out that the man is third brother. Tu Doan grabs Thieu Hoas hand to catch him but gets pulled into the pit too. Tu Doan twists her ankle.

            Back at the camp, Thieu Hoa fixes Tu Doans ankle. After some talking, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa reveals that he is Le Quans future husband. Tu Doan gets mad and slaps him and leaves. Back in Tu Doans room, Tieu Dinh is rather happy that the incident is resolved. However, Nghe Tu Doan decides to stay and continue to keep her identity a secret.

Episode 12

            The bandits find out that Hoang Phu Kinh had saved their lives a long time ago. They treat Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa very kindly. That night, Nghe Tu Doan goes to talk to Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa. Tu Doan asks why he would want to marry someone he had only met once. He replies that she had saved his life and he will always take care of her. After some more convincing to end the marriage, Thieu Hoa gets suspicious and asks why Tu Doan cared so much for Le Quans well being. Tu Doan blurts out that Le Quan will never love him because Le Quan is in love with Tu Doan. Le Quan is actually Tu Doans cousin and they are in love. Thieu Hoa is sad but decides to make third brother happy. Tu Doan gets mad at Thieu Hoas lack for struggle to win her hand. Tu Doan then tells Thieu Hoa that she was kidding. Now, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa is very confused.

Episode 13

The Manh family asks for the whereabouts of Le Quan. Dinh lan says that she does not know. However, Anh Tuyet knows that Dinh Lan is lying. Since Dinh Lan had swore to Le Quan that if she ever told, she will never find a husband, Anh Tuyet tells Dinh Lan to reveal her secret to a chicken. Anh Tuyet stands beside and listens to everything. Manh Tu Nho also overhears their conversation.

Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa, three bandits, and the queen bandit attend the execution in disguised. Meanwhile, Nghe Tu Doan and one other bandit search for a horse and carriage. Unfortunately, all the horses in the town had been rented out by the soldiers. The horse owner said the only people who have horses are the Mongolians. Nghe Tu Doan uses Thiet Moc Nhi's jade to get a horse from some Mongolians and wonders the identity of Thiet Moc Nhi. Manh Tu Nho is also at the execution but is searching for Le Quan. Before Hoang Phu Kinh gets beheaded, the rescuers jump out. The soldiers were ready for them. Meanwhile, Nghe Tu Doan decides to help out since everyone cared for her so much. Manh Tu Nho recognizes his sister even though she had a mask on and jumps into help. Nghe Tu Doan gets shot by an arrow. The soldiers block their escape route but a mask man jumps in to save them. Everyone gets away safely. The mask man catches up to them and reveals his identity as General Dang, a general who used to serve with Hoang Phu Kinh when the Chinese people were still in power. He advices them to split up to lose the soldiers. Nghe Tu Doan, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa, General Dang, and Manh Tu Nho go as one team. The rest of the other people leaves for the camp. General Dang leads them to a house. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa wants to bandage Tu Doan but Tu Doan does it herself clumsily. A sound is heard outside and Thieu Hoa catches to men only to find that one man is the Han emperor and the other is servant. General Dang retells the story of the escape during the collapse of the Chinese empire. The prince was taken away safely while a fake prince was to fake his death. General Dang explains his ambition to restore the emperor on the throne but has done so with no success. Everyone then leaves for the camp seeing that the soldiers gave up.

Back in town, Official Luu is very mad. He tells his son to stop making trouble and tells his family that he must leave for the capital to accept his new position. At the capital, Thiet Moc Nhi argues with his uncle about peace treaty. Cuu Duong Gia wants to continue the war but the emperor accepts Thiet Moc Nhis advice. He grants him the title of Troung Dien Than Duong to ensure the peace treaty and accept the ambassador. Cuu Duong Gia is mad and storms off.

Episode 14

            Cuu Duong Gia arrives home only to find himself arguing with his wife over the death of their daughter, Bao Nhi, again.

            At the camp, Le Quan makes her brother swear not to reveal her identity to Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa or he will never be able to continue the family line. The queen bandit barges in to bandage Nghe Tu Doans wound but is kicked out. Tu Nho asks the queen bandit to show him around the camp. Nghe Tu Doans wound gets an infection and she faints. Thieu Hoa passed up her room to find her on the floor. He bandages her up and gets medicine for her. Nghe Tu Doan can not help but blush while Thieu Hoa thinks that his fourth brother has a fever. Manh Tu Nho enters the wrong room when he brought medicine to Le Quan. The queen bandit calls him a pervert and takes the medicine. She starts to call Nghe Tu Doan, Nghe Lan. Nghe Tu Doan is confused because the queen bandit thinks they are a couple now. After the queen bandit leaves, Tu Doan advices her brother to marry the queen bandit or find a way to make the queen bandit leave her alone.

            General Dang teaches Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa and the queen bandit some kung fu. Nghe Tu Doan oversees it and decides that Thieu Hoa and the queen bandit would make a great couple. At dinner, General Dang accepts the two as his students while Tu Nho and Tu Doan keep making the two drink wine. That night, Nghe Tu Doan carries the queen bandit to the queen bandits room and takes away the lantern at the door. Manh Tu Nho was suppose to take Thieu Hoa into that room too but got confused when the emperors servant took the latern off of Nghe Tu Doan's room. Tu Nho accidentally put Thieu Hoa into Tu Doans room. In the morning, Tu Doan wakes up to find Thieu Hoa in the same bed. She screams and kicks him on to the ground.

Episode 15

            Nghe Tu Doan calls Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa a pervert and starts hitting him. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa does not understand why fourth brother is so mad since he only slept with him by mistake. They hear a scream from the queen bandits room. They run over finding that Manh Tu Nho had slept over there on accident and now the queen bandit is beating him up. Nghe Tu Doan is happy since her brother has to marry the queen bandit. The queen bandit tries to explain herself and Thieu Hoa tries to apologize to Nghe Tu Doan.

            Thiet Moc Nhi escorts the ambassador to the inn but that night he secretly takes him to the palace. Some assassins come to kill the ambassador only to find that he was not at the inn. The leader of the assassins is the high priest that works for Cuu Duong Gia. Cuu Duong Gia ordered the assassination but it failed. At dinner at the palace, the emperor praises Thiet Moc Nhis cunning. The next day, he crowns Thiet Moc Nhi heir to the throne and the title, Hoang Thai Tu. Cuu Duong Gia storms off again and complains to his wife. She said they should go on a vacation and he accepts.

            Nghe Tu Doan and Manh Tu Nho decide to go back home but General Dang does not let them fearing the soldiers will find the Chinese emperor. He said he will kill anyone who tries to leave. Back at the palace, the emperor is sick. Thiet Moc Nhi plans to go search for his grandmother, the empress, to cure the emperors sickness. He tells Khoac Chanh to take care of his grandfather while he is away.

            At the camp, Manh Tu Nho accidentally tells the queen bandit that his cousin, Nghe Tu Doan, only likes men and not women. A bandit overhears it and tells the others. The queen bandit thinks that Tu Doan does not like her because she is so much like a man. The four bandits tell Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa to advice the queen bandit to stay away from Tu Doan since he is gay. Thieu Hoa is confused. Manh Tu Nho and Nghe Tu Doan decide to escape. Tu Doan climps into a tree to see if there is a path to escape. Tu Doan slips and falls on her brother. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa was passing by and sees the two on the ground hugging each other. He thinks that both are gay. Nghe Tu Doan said that he did it and so what. Manh Tu Nho asks Thieu Hoa not to say anything to General Dang and that since he is stuck in the room with Tu Doan all the time, they had to do it. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa is now certain that Tu Doan is gay.

            Luu Khue Bich comes to the Manh house demanding Le Quan to marry him or he will imprison Manh Tu Nho for the rescue attempt. Manh Sy Nguyen discusses the plans with his wife and servants.

Episode 16

            They decide to escape but Luu Khue Bich catches them. He tells Anh Tuyet that he will be looking forward to their marriage. Now everyone understands that Luu Khue Bich thinks Anh Tuyet is Le Quan. Anh Tuyet decides to go with the marriage but Manh Sy Nguyen disapproves of it. Anh Tuyet said that Manh Sy Nguyen had bought her and her mothers freedom from a brothel house. She is forever in debt to them. Dinh Lan decides to find Le Quan and so she escapes.

            Nghe Tu Doan and Manh Tu Nho are bored in their room when the queen bandit charges in. She is dressed in womans clothing with horrible makeup on. She tries to seduce Nghe Tu Doan when a bandit reports that General Dang had caught a spy. When the spy was let out of the bag, it was Dinh Lan dressed as Tieu Dinh. Tieu Dinh sees Le Quan and yells mistress. When she finds that everyone is also there she changes her line and says that the mistress was to be wedded in three days. Everyone Is eager to go rescue Le Quan from the marriage but General Dang would not let them. That night Nghe Tu Doan, Tieu Dinh, and Manh Tu Nho escape only to find that Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa also escaped to rescue is future bride. General Dang stops them only to give Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa his sword and blessing. The queen bandit also tags along.

            Meanwhile at the Manh house, Anh Tuyet overhears Manh Sy Nguyen talk about the trouble with Luu Khue Bich and his determination to stop the marriage.

Episode 17

            Luu Khue Bich has the marriage a day earlier than planned. He comes to pick Anh Tuyet up. Manh Sy Nguyen tries to stop him but gets hurt. Anh Tuyet says that she must repay the Manh family for their kindness. Manh Sy Nguyens wife gives Anh Tuyet her gold bracelet and says farewell. Tieu Dinh, Manh Tu Nho, queen bandit, Nghe Tu Doan, and Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa arrive in town. Nghe Tu Doan and Tieu Dinh go to the Manh house only to find that Anh Tuyet already left. That night, all five of them sneak into Luus house. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa sees Luu Yen Ngoc and she takes them to her brother's room. Anh Tuyet finds out that Luu Khue Bich only wanted to marry her to humiliate her. She hits him and jumps out of the window into the rushing river. Everyone searches in vain for her body only to finds a shoe. Luu Khue Bich gets scared and decides to accuse Manh Sy Nguyen of telling his Anh Tuyet who is Le Quan to murder her husband. Nghe Tu Doan and the rest still go searching. They find a handkerchief. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa starts sobbing and takes out the jade bracelet that he had bought intended for Le Quan. He was about to throw it into the river when Nghe Tu Doan convinces him that Le Quan is not dead yet. Nghe Tu Doan and Manh Tu Nho arrive home only to find Luu Khue Bich leading their father away. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa and the queen bandit triy to stop him by taking Luu Khue Bich hostage.

Episode 18

            Luu Khue Bich breaks free and only with Luu Yen Ngocs help was Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa able to escape. The gang stays at Luu Yen Ngocs place and Nghe Tu Doan goes outside to bribe the village people to give false evidence of their whereabouts. Manh Tu Nho and Nghe Tu Doan see Dinh Lan going to the market and they pretend to be street venders. They sell her cakes with messages inside. At court, the judge tries many times to convict Manh Sy Nguyen but the village people trust Manh Sy Nguyen and disapprove of the accusations. The judge could only lock him up until further rulings. Nghe Tu Doan tries to visit her father in jail but is turned down. She meets Luu Khue Bich who recognized Nghe Tu Doan as the sworn brother of a Mongolian. He lets her in because he does not want trouble. In jail, Nghe Tu Doan tries to convince her father to allow her to ask Thiet Moc Nhi for help but her father said no. Some soldiers bring food to a prisoner next door. He gets good food and gets special treatment because he knows some Mongolian people.

Episode 19

            Manh Sy Nguyen tells his daughter to go to the capital and find his long friend, Le Nhuoc Son, a wealthy man who knows many people in office for help. Le Quan agrees but decides to ensure her fathers safety while she is gone. She shows the judge Thiet Moc Nhi's jade only to find the judge bowing down mercifully. She orders him to treat Manh Sy Nguyen well and not take Luu Khue Bich's bribes. The judge agrees.

            Nghe Tu Doan says good-bye to her mother. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa tells Le Quans mother that he regrets for not protecting Le Quan and seeing her appearance before. Tieu Dinh tells Le Quan's mother that Le Quan had drawn a picture of herself before. Le Quan's mother gives the painting to Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa is rather confused because the girl in the painting looks exactly like his fourth brother, Nghe Tu Doan, except for a mole. Nghe Tu Doan says that since they are cousins they look alike. Tieu Dinh says that they two always get people confused. Manh Tu Nho says to Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa that if her ever missed his sister he should look at Nghe Tu Doan. They leave. Luu Khue Bich finds a letter from Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa addressed to his sister and he suspects her intervention. He decides to wed her off to an old man only to find her escape. He chases after her because she has gone to the capital to tell her father about her brothers evil doing.

            Nghe Tu Doan, Tieu Dinh, and Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa go to the capital while Manh Tu Nho and the queen bandit go to the camp. On the way, Nghe Tu Doan decides to go swimming. Nghe Tu Doan makes Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa stand guard from a distant while she and Tieu Dinh have fun. She hears a flute music and screams thinking Thiet Moc Nhi is nearby. In actuality, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa was playing the flute. When he heard fourth brothers scream, he accidentally drops his flute into the rushing river. Tieu Dinh tells Nghe Tu Doan that the flutist might be Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa since there was no one else around. She searches his body and finds nothing but Le Quan's painting.

            Meanwhile, the judge gets an urgent message from the capital to take Manh Sy Nguyen to the capital. With much reluctance, Manh Sy Nguyen finally agrees only if his wife comes to.

Episode 20

            On the trip, Nghe Tu Doan is furious at Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa for being a cheapskate. He orders meager meals of steam buns and rents cheap rooms to save money. Anh Tuyet gets saved by Cuu Duong Gia's boat. She wakes up only to find herself in front of his wife. She says her name is To Dang and that she was forced to marry making her commit suicide. Cuu Duong Gias wife tells To Dang of her daughter, Bao Nhi, and she finds that To Dang is someone she can talk comfortably with. In the morning, To Dang leaves the boat to buy medicine for Cuu Duong Gias wifes headaches. She had sold her gold bracelet to get medicine. She helps the wife drink the medicine. Cuu Duong Gias wife finds that To Dang resembles her daughter and is overjoyed. Cuu Duong Gia shows little emotions but he gives To Dang back her gold bracelet saying that she should never do this again and she should let the servants do it.

            Manh Tu Nho and the queen bandit arrive at camp only to find that a messenger reported that Manh Sy Nguyen had left with the judge. They decide to track Manh Sy Nguyen down and see what the judge is up to. When stopping at a restaurant they find Manh Sy Nguyen. Manh Tu Nho decides to go with his father to the capital. Meanwhile, their money is running low. The only food Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa orders is steamed buns. Nghe Tu Doan takes a bite and throws the steam bun back on the plate. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa picks it up and eats it. He does not want it to go to waste. Since they do not have much money left, they stole on board a boat of performers. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa and Nghe Tu Doan hide in a chest together and Tieu Dinh in another. They sleep there for the night. In the morning, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa looks at Nghe Tu Doan only to be reminded of Le Quan. When they get out of the chest, a boatman uncovers them. Nghe Tu Doan makes up a stupid song about their reasons for being on board.

Episode 21

Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa tells the boatmen that they have no more money but will be willing to work for their way. The boatmen agree. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa does all the heavy work while Nghe Tu Doan treats sick patients and Tieu Dinh take care of Nghe Tu Doan. There is a gay performer on the boat who likes Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa. One day, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa trips while carrying wood. Nghe Tu Doan checks third brother if he is okay. They look into each others eyes. Nghe Tu Doan feels uncomfortable and leaves. The gay performer rushes over to take care of Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa only to be pushed back. He tells Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa that he only liks fourth brother and not him. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa says no because he is not gay. Everyday they are served the same food, steamed buns. Nghe Tu Doan takes a bite and gives the rest to Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa. She decides to go buy food when they hit shore. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa looks at Nghe Tu Doan questioning if he is gay himself. When they land the next day, Tieu Dinh and Nghe Tu Doan go eat at a restaurant. They order the restaurants special cakes. Thiet Moc Nhi goes up the stairs on the restaurant. Nghe Tu Doan is overjoyed to see second brother. She goes and pinches him to see if it is a dream. Thiet Moc Nhi then tells her that his father had died. They decide to meet later that night since he had to leave right away. A Tang Ca reports to Thiet Moc Nhi the whereabouts of the empress. They decide to wait for her a couple days more.

Nghe Tu Doan brings back some cake for the performers. The gay guy eats a lot only to find that he is allergic to it. His face gets swollen and covered with blemishes. The leader of the performers makes Nghe Tu Doan take his place as the lead. After Nghe Tu Doan puts on the womans costume and makeup, everyone compliments the beauty. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa cannot help but stare at fourth brothers resemblance to Le Quan. When the play start, Nghe Tu Doan forgets the lines so the gay guy had to pretend to sing for him. One of the audience member, a gay guy, liks Nghe Tu Doan and invites all the performers to dine with him. Nghe Tu Doan disagrees and leaves with Tieu Dinh to see Thiet Moc Nhi. Two men kidnap Nghe Tu Doan and Tieu Dinh rushes to tell Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa. At the gay guys house, Nghe Tu Doan is drugged and falls asleep. Luckily Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa rushed in to save her. He gets slashed on the shoulder. Thiet Moc Nhi arrives to save them.

Episode 22

            Thiet Moc Nhi offers to feed Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa while Nghe Tu Doan goes and rest. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa tells Thiet Moc Nhi that he is not hungry anymore. Thieu Hoa has a dream that fourth brother brought him medicine and revealed himself as a girl. Thieu Hoa gets excited and falls off his bed. Nghe Tu Doan enters carrying some medicine. Tu Doan tries to spoon some for Thieu Hoa but it spills all over her. She leaves to go change. Thiet Moc Nhi asks why Thieu Hoa is so stresses out. Thieu Hoa tells Thiet Moc Nhi that he is in love with Nghe Tu Doan and shows Thiet Moc Nhi the painting. Thiet Moc Nhi realizes that Nghe Tu Doan is Manh Le Quan and also Thieu Hoa's future wife. He tells Thieu Hoa to leave or he will cause their friendship to break apart. Thieu Hoa leaves a letter and leaves. Thiet Moc Nhi and Nghe Tu Doan go to the capital together. Meanwhile, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa rescues Luu Yen Ngoc from some bandits and they decide to travel together. While traveling, Thiet Moc Nhi's carriage breaks a wheel. Tieu Dinh and A Tang Ca are fixing while Nghe Tu Doan goes to wash her feet. Thiet Moc Nhi shows up and jokes about the size of fourth brothers feet. He then asks her if she has a sister or cousin so that he can marry. Before Nghe Tu Doan can enter, Tieu Dinh report that the wagon has been fixed. They continue on the journey reaching the next town. They stay at Thiet Moc Nhis house. Tieu Dinh and Nghe Tu Doan go exploring. They stop to watch a bunch of people gamble. An old woman and her maid go to play the game.

Episode 23

The woman loses a lot of money. Nghe Tu Doan helps her because the gambler was cheating. The woman asl Nghe Tu Doan to help her at another place. After Tu Doan wins back a lot of money for the old lady, two men approach them demanding them to pay back the money. Nghe Tu Doan beats them off with her kungfu. The woman invites them to eat at a brothel house. The lady explains that the money she had won would go into buying all the ladies at the brothel houses freedom. They then drink and eat. The old lady complains about men and the emperor. Thiet Moc Nhi is worried about fourth brother. When he finds out that Nghe Tu Doan had gone to a brothel house, he gets worried. The next day, he takes Nghe TU Doan sightseeing, boating, and to a temple. They stop and watch two men converse about poetry. Nghe Tu Doan borrows one of the mens Chinese harp and plays her song. Thiet Moc Nhi tries to buy the harp but the man would no sell it. Everytime Thiet Moc Nhi sees something in pairs, he would mention male and female. Nghe Tu Doan was about to tell him her identity when the sky turns gray and there is a sign of rain. They go back home. The next day, Nghe TU Doan decides to dress like a woman to reveal her identity to Thiet Moc Nhi. Unfortunately Thiet Moc Nhi had to leave and invited her to join him later on. Thiet Moc Nhi arrives at the brothel house and tells the Empress, the old lady, that the Emperor is sick and they must return home. Thiet Moc Nhi must leave right away and gives A Tang Ca a letter to give to Nghe Tu Doan. A Tang Ca could not find Tu Doan but bumps into Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa. He tells him to deliver the letter instead. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa arrives at the restaurant by the pond. He sees a woman. She turns around and it is Nghe Tu Doan dressed as a female.

Episode 24

Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa gives Tu Doan the letter. He is confused. After trying to explain that she is not a woman, Nghe Tu Doan gives up. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa confirms that Nghe Tu Doan is a girl and she is also Le Quans cousin. Nghe Tu Doan gets upset at Thiet Moc Nhi and runs away. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa run after her but could not find her. Nghe Tu Doan and Tieu Dinh decide to go to the capital themselves. Meanwhile, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoad decides that he should stop loving Nghe Tu Doan since Thiet Moc Nhi likes her. Luu Yen Ngoc enters and sees the painting and confirms that Le Quan is beautiful. She hints to him that Le Quan is dead but he objects. The next day, Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa stops to buy a flute. Luu Yen Ngoc hurts her ankle and Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa helps her. Tieu Dinh and Nghe Tu Doan see them. Nghe Tu Doan is jealous. After some hasty talk, the four decide to go to the capital together. Meanwhile, Cuu Duong Gia gets word that the emperor is sick. He decides to take To Dang with him and his wife back to the capital. Thiet Moc Nhi and the empress arrive to the capital. The emperor feels much better. Thiet Moc Nhi teaches Khoac Chanh how to go horseback riding. That night, the empress visits Khoac Chanh and says that Thiet Moc Nhi will make a good husband for her. Thiet Moc Nhi ordered a Chinese harp to be brought to him. He gets mad when he finds out that it is not like the one Nghe Tu Doan played. The empress tells him that he should get married to Khoac Chanh.

Episode 25

Thiet Moc Nhi tells her that he is too busy. Nghe Tu Doan, Tieu Dinh, Luu Yen Ngoc, and Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa arrive at the next town. They save a woman who tried to commit suicide by jumping into the river. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa tells the woman to be strong even though she is forced to marry someone she does not love. He gives her money to help her family. Since they are out of money, they must eat steamed buns again. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa catches a cold. Both Nghe Tu Doan and Luu Yen Ngoc make medicine for him. Nghe Tu Doan makes Tieu Dinh drink the medicine when she found out that Luu Yen Ngoc made medicine already. That night, Nghe Tu Doan hears flute music. She goes outside only to see that the flute player is Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa. She gets scared and runs off. Thieu Hoa runs after her only to get blamed. He thinks he did something wrong. Tieu Dinh thought Nghe Tu Doan saw a ghost and tells her to say some things that her grandmother had taught her. In the morning, Tieu Dinh tells Thieu Hoa and Luu Yen Ngoc that Nghe Tu Doan saw a ghost. Nghe Tu Doan could not sleep last night. She takes a bite of her steamed buns and throws it back. Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa immediately picked it up to eat it. Nghe Tu Doan grabs it back and says that she is not finished. Tieu Dinh explains that Hoang Phu Thieu Hoa likes to eat Nghe Tu Doans leftovers. Thiet Moc Nhi hired a man to play the song exactly like Nghe Tu Doan had played, while he thinks off their time together. When they reach the next town, Thieu Hoa decides to help a sick mother and daughter. After giving them some money, everyone goes back to their house to clean up. Nghe Tu Doan cures the mother.

Episode 26
